“Yamaha and Abarth have created the XSR900 Abarth – a lightweight high-performance retro special whose authentic café racer design reflects the true spirit of the 1960s.”
Power and weight figures of the Yamaha XSR900 Abarth are identical to the standard version of the bike so the partnership between the two brands is more of a styling exercise than anything else. Abarth have designed a set of carbon fibre bodywork for the project that includes an exclusive front cowl and tail section. The seating configuration removes the ability to take a passenger and the saddles suede leather is finished with red stitching to match the bikes grey and red paint scheme.
Despite much of the XSR900 Abarth’s specifications being identical to the standard bike, owners can expect a different riding experience thanks to clip on style “swallow” handlebars and a revised footpeg position. A “racing style” LED tail light and numberplate mount sit at the rear of the bike and an Akrapovič titanium muffler transforms the engines sound to a much more suitable tone for the companies first factory-built cafe racer.
Each of the 695 Yamaha XSR900 Abarth cafe racers come with a numbered, limited edition plaque and will go on sale early this year.
