The cafe racer you see here was built over a four-year period by Wisconsin Honda specialist Jeff Stephens at Godffery’s Garage in Burlington, Wisconsin. It stands as a testament to Stephens’ skill and the adaptability of the CB750 platform.
Originally a 1972 CB750K2, this bike pays homage to the cafe conversions popular in Europe during the 1970s and ’80s. Beyond mere cosmetic changes, almost every component has been enhanced, updated, and refined for optimal performance. The engine underwent a transformation, with a Cycle X 836cc “Git Kit” incorporating Wiseco pistons, forged rods, an improved valvetrain, and a stage one cam. Cylinder head work and barrel machining were carried out by Cycle Exchange.
Apart from the upgraded engine, the motorcycle boasts a hydraulic clutch conversion performed in-house at Godffery’s Garage, a Barnett clutch pack, a billet aluminum steering head assembly, a set of 34mm Mikuni flat-slide carbs with pod air filters, and more. To complete the project, Godffrey’s Garage enveloped the bike in custom-fabricated sheet metal painted in a subdued, monotone silver.
